How much does Podymos outsource vs. produce in-house?
Are you thinking of working with Podymos and want to learn more about how we run projects? Are you wondering how much of your work we’ll do in-house and how much we’ll outsource?
We get asked this question more often than you would think, so we wanted to answer this totally honestly so you can decide for yourself if we’re the agency for you. After all, deciding which marketing agency to work with is no small decision.
To answer this question, we’ll address the following topics:
- What is outsourced marketing?
- What work does Podymos do in-house?
- What work does Podymos outsource, and why?
- How do we vet our suppliers?
What is outsourced marketing?
Outsourced marketing is when your agency partner hires outside specialists to complete part or all your project.
This happens when your agency doesn’t have the required capability or capacity ‘in-house’ to do the work. To accommodate for this, outside specialists are commissioned to ensure that your project is completed to a high level, on time and on budget.
These specialists will normally be well-vetted and typically have an ongoing relationship with your agency, allowing them to jump in when needed.
Agencies outsource different amounts of work, depending on the breadth of their services and the capabilities of their in-house team.
What work does Podymos do in-house?
So, the big question is, how much work do we do in-house, and how much do we outsource?
The answer to this is simple. At Podymos, we do most of our work in-house. Our team is made up of digital and traditional marketing specialists from the medical device industry who work across all downstream channels, from messaging and branding to content creation, social media marketing, website development and much more.

What work does Podymos outsource, and why?
At Podymos, we only outsource parts of four of our services: printing, video filming (editing for larger projects), photography and animation programming.
We outsource these as it’s currently too costly to bring these in-house without damaging project quality, so we use specialists to support our team when needed.
It’s important to note that we never outsource full projects, and our specialists have worked with us for years, only supporting us with certain stages of a project plan.
To explain this further, we’ve listed out what work we do in-house and what we outsource when needed.

Printing
While printing brochures, exhibition graphics, and other materials aren’t as prevalent as they once were, it’s still needed. At Podymos, we write the copy and design all your materials before sending the print files to our printers to be produced and shipped to you.
The benefit of this for you is we often get preferred pricing options as we print so frequently.
Saying that, if you’d prefer to work with your own printers, we’ll always be more than happy to provide you with your artwork files or forward them to your preferred printer and check the proofs before the final print button is pushed.
Video
Video is a versatile medium to work with that enhances any marketing campaign. While we do have in-house video editing capabilities, we usually reserve these for smaller social media projects. When we’re filming larger productions, we work with a specialist film crew to film and edit the footage planned out by our team.
Our specialist film crew has been working with us for over 7 years, so they really are part of the team. They seamlessly fit in with our processes and procedures, working alongside our team so every project we deliver to you is of the highest standard, on brand and fully referenced.
Animation
At Podymos, we complete most stages of an animation project in-house, including storyboarding, scriptwriting, design, organising and running voiceover recordings, and full management of the project. The only part that is outsourced is programming the animation and the final render. Whiteboard animations are completed fully in-house.
By outsourcing the programming of our animations to one team, we save time and resources for our clients as we’d be unable to bring this in-house in a cost-effective way without damaging the quality of the final animation.
The animators we work with specialise in 3D anatomical animation, making them the perfect partners for our team as they can bring to life the storyboards we create with perfect anatomical accuracy.
Imagery
Medical imagery comes in many forms, from product and lifestyle photography to CAD renders, CGI graphics, medical illustrations and line drawings.
We produce all these fully in-house, except for specialist photography (product and lifestyle) and anatomical illustrations.
Whenever either of these is required, our team will work with specific specialists, still managing the project from start to finish.
How do we vet our suppliers?
At Podymos, there are two values that we live by over all others – service and quality.
We believe that if we maintain a high level of service (with effective communication and fast turnaround) and excellent quality (with few errors), our business will thrive as we’ll be delivering a world-class product to our clients.
To maintain these values, we’re selective over who we work with. Since we were founded in 2016, we’ve established strong partnerships with specialists who share our commitment to excellence, reliability, and customer satisfaction. We consistently use these specialists as they are part of our team, and their work is our work.
